Postponing Conpulsion: Homecoming

  • Postponing Conpulsion: Homecoming to 2023
  • Hosting Conpulsion Lite, a series of on-line events, this year instead

The Conpulsion Committee has been monitoring the Covid situation and the Scottish Government guidance. After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone Conpulsion: Homecoming to April 2023.

We acknowledge that this would be disappointing to many within our community. We were also looking forward to seeing everyone in person again. However, while Covid restrictions are easing off, we are erring on the side of caution because of the transmissibility of the Omiron variant and the risk it poses to vulnerable members of our community.

Moreover, even under relaxed rules, our usual venues are still operating at reduced capacity. Any event that goes ahead in these circumstances would be greatly curtailed. We decided that the sensible way forward would be to postpone Conpulsion: Homecoming to next year, when we can hopefully have a full con experience.

In the meantime, we are going to organise what we’re calling Conpulsion Lite on the weekend of 9 and 10 April. This will be a series of smaller events, such as a panel, one-shots, and a charity live stream, instead of a whole convention. We tried organising an on-line con last year, and it was just not the same. Rather than replicate that, we are going to try and make the most of what we have now, and offer a variety of things for people to drop in and out of as they please.

Our sincere thanks to our lovely community of gamers for your ongoing patience, support and enthusiasm. We will be back with more updates soon. In the meantime, you can watch this space, follow our social media, or get in touch via email.

We shall see folks virtually in April, and then in person again next year. Until then, I hope that:

Absence will not seem an evil
If it make our re-meeting
A real occasion.
