Panel Announcement: Squaring the Circle: Designing a|state Second Edition

We set the bar quite high with our previous announcement. We are excited to follow it up with our second of two panels for Conpulsion Lite, a panel on one of the most anticipated releases in Scottish TTRPGs this year: a|state Second Edition!

a|state first launched at Conpulsion in 2004. It is fitting that we celebrate the release of its second edition in a similar fashion. This panel features Morgan Davie and Gregor Hutton, designers on the team of a|state, who are no strangers to the Edinburgh TTRPG scene.

We are fortunate that because of the on-line format of the event, mōrgue is able to join us from Aotearoa/New Zealand (and, not to mention, grateful that he is willing to stay up late to fit this event in given the time difference).

The Panellists

Morgan Davie (He/Him), aka mōrgue, is a Kiwi game designer and podcaster living in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. He has worked on the Doctor Who RPG for Cubicle 7, a writing resource for school kids called Game of Awesome, and now the second edition of a|state.

Gregor Hutton (He/Him) is a games designer and illustrator living in Edinburgh. He worked on the original a|state in the early 2000s, and a number of indie games since, including 3:16 Carnage Amongst The Stars. Gregor is one of the designers of a|state second edition.

You can read more about the panellists on our page about this panel.

🇳🇿 10 pm NZST (UTC +12)

The event will also feature a live Q&A with the panellists via the Twitch chat.

You can find more information about the event, including full bios of the panellists and links to their recent works, on our page about this panel.

Both mōrgue and Gregor are old friends of Conpulsion, and are both laureates of the Banquo Award for embodying the spirit of Scottish gaming. We are delighted to welcome them back at the Con, and are grateful for their long-standing support and generosity. With this panel, Conpulsion Lite now features six guests across five different time zones!

This event promises to be a tantalising preview of one of the biggest releases in Scottish gaming this year, and Conpulsion is proud to play a part in this.
